Woman Killed By Falling Tree While Hiking In Chester Co.
The tragedy occurred in a county park over the weekend.
COATESVILLE, PA — A woman was hiking in Chester County last weekend when a falling tree struck her and killed her, officials confirmed.
The incident occurred on Sunday, Oct. 12 at Hibernia County Park.
Pam Dean, 67, of Coatesville, was on the Rim Trail in the park when the tree came down.

County park rangers said they responded immediately, and provided medical attention until paramedics arrived.
Dean was then taken by ambulance to Paoli Hospital for emergency care. She died shortly thereafter.

"We were deeply saddened to learn (of her death)," Chester County Parks and Recreation said in a statement. "Pam was a frequent visitor to Hibernia Park and was a member of the Hibernia Hiking Club. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her during this difficult time."
Chester County Commissioner Marian Moskowitz added that she was "heartbroken."
Park officials and county leaders are working together to investigate the incident further.
