Mayor George C. Brown Announces Holiday Parking Meter Fee Suspension
Wilkes-Barre, PA December 17, 2021: Mayor George C. Brown is pleased to announce that the City of Wilkes-Barre will be suspending parking meter fees in the downtown area for the holiday season.
 
The fee suspension will be in effect from beginning at 8 AM on Saturday, December 18, 2021 through Sunday, January 2, 2022. The fee suspension will be in place for the following bounded area: Union Street on the North; Franklin Street on the West; South Street on the South; and Washington Street on the East. Residents and visitors are advised that all meter enforcement not contained in the above-describe area shall remain in full force and effect. Shaded area shown in map below shows areas which will have suspended parking meter fees:
 
The Downtown parking meter fee suspension will urge residents and visitors alike to purchase holiday gifts at stores and enjoy dining at downtown restaurants. Additionally, the parking meter fee suspension will encourage residents and visitors to attend the City’s “Santa on the Square” event on Public Square on Saturday, December 18th from 11 AM to 2 PM.
