1 Killed, 17 Injured After PA Man Drives Into Fundraiser: Police
After ramming into the crowd, police say the man returned home and beat his mother to death.

BERWICK, PA — Two people are dead and multiple others were injured after police said a man upset with his mother drove his car into a crowd of people attending a fundraiser for the families of 10 people killed in a recent house fire. Police say the man then returned home and beat his mother to death, according to reports.
Adrian Oswaldo Sura Reyes, 24, of Nescopeck, has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide following Saturday's attacks, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Authorities say Sura Reyes drove into a crowd of people gathered for a community event in Berwick shortly before 6:15 p.m., killing one and injuring 17 others.
The crowd of about 75 people was gathered in the parking lot of the Intoxicology Department, according to an Associated Press report. They were attending a fundraiser for the families of seven adults and three children killed in a devastating Aug. 5 house fire in Nescopeck.

Sura Reyes drove past the fundraiser crowd before turning around and driving through it, The AP reported.
Shortly after, authorities received a call that man was physically assaulting a woman in nearby Nescopeck, state police confirmed.
Troopers arrived and found that local police had arrested Sura Reyes. A woman, later identified as Rosa D. Reyes, 56, of Nescopeck, was dead when authorities arrived. According to The AP, Reyes — later identified as Sura Reyes's mother — died of multiple traumatic injuries after being hit by a vehicle and beat with a hammer.
The Washington Post identified the person killed at the fundraiser as Rebecca Reese. Authorities have not released the names of those injured.
When asked by reporters if he had anything to say following the attacks, Sura Reyes was captured on video saying, "I'm sorry."
State police said Sura Reyes is not a suspect in the fatal Aug. 5 fire, The AP reported.
Intoxicology Department shared a post on Facebook shortly after the attack, calling it an "absolute tragedy."
"We will be closed until further notice," the post read. "Please respect our privacy while we grieve and try to process the events that occurred. Thank you."
