Boozy Christmas-Week Arrests Made In Yardley

Two DUIs and a public intoxication charge were among the cases that Yardley Borough Police handled in the days leading up to Christmas.

YARDLEY, PA — The police blotter in Yardley Borough for the days leading up to Christmas is a pretty good reminder of why you should always be careful about mixing holiday spirits with spirits of another sort.

On Christmas Eve, Yardley Police responded to a two-car crash on the 10 block of South Main Street at 3:47 p.m.

During the investigation, an officer developed probable cause that the driver of a blue, Chevy pickup truck was driving under the influence of alcohol. The man, a 39-year-old from Lower Makefield, was arrested and charged with careless driving and DUI offenses, police said.

Yardley Police made another DUI arrest at 3:05 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22. This one was on North Main Street, between Dolington and Ludlow roads.

An officer saw a driver make a turn outside of a lane and made a traffic stop. During the stop, police say, the officer developed probable cause that the driver — an 18-year-old man from Langhorne — was driving under the influence of drugs. He was arrested, processed and released and the matter is pending a court date.

And shortly before midnight on Saturday, Dec. 21, Yardley Police were called to a report of a man banging on a door on West Afton Avenue. Police say the man was found to be intoxicated and the 27-year-old from Bristol was charged with public intoxication and turned over to the custody of friends and family.
