River Road Brush Fire Battled By Yardley-Makefield Fire Crews

The Yardley-Makefield Fire Company said its volunteers put in 75 hours of service time on Friday, including helping rescue a stranded boat.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Yardley-Makefield Fire Company battled a brush fire and helped rescue a stranded boat during a busy Friday, fire officials said.

YMFC volunteers began Friday morning assisting Station 30 at a large brush fire, shortly after returning to the station, then battled a brush fire off River Road.

Fire crews helped Station 98 with a stranded boat in the water.

In the afternoon, YMFC officers had members who are in fire school out preparing them for their hands-on skills testing this weekend.

The fire department said the six fire calls for service and afternoon training totaled over 75 hours of volunteer time.
