Strawberries Smashed By Enraged Man At Shady Brook Farm: PD

Lower Makefield Township Police said a Philadelphia man was charged in the incident earlier this month at the farm destination.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — A Philadelphia man has been charged with several offenses after going into a rage and smashing strawberries during a recent trip to Shady Brook Farm.

Lower Makefield Township Police responded to the 900 block of Stony Hill Rd. at Shady Brook Farm at 1:54 p.m. on June 8 to the report of a man being verbally and physically aggressive towards employees after being confronted for not paying for bags of strawberries they picked.

Witnesses told police that the man became angry after being confronted and started smashing bags of strawberries on the ground, pushing staff away and attempting to strike them.

The value of the strawberries taken and destroyed was $245.

While attempting to flee the scene, the man covered his license plate and sped off, causing a female passenger to fall out of the back of the vehicle, police said.

Police were able to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle at Township Line Road and Floral Vale Boulevard.

The 40-year-old Philadelphia man was taken into police custody for Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Harassment, and Disorderly Conduct.

He was arraigned by District Justice Gallagher and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
