Another Beach Party, Another Teen Treated for Intoxication

Barrington police and East Providence EMTs respond to Allin's Cove last Saturday night for another case of possible alcohol poisoning.

Another drinking party on a Barrington beach ended last Saturday night, Nov. 16, with an "unresponsive" teenage girl treated for possible alcohol poisoning.

The girl, 15, was taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital by EMTs from East Providence around 9 pm after she was found soaking wet on Willow Way near Allin’s Cove wrapped in a blanket and being held by another teenage girl.

She apparently stumbled and fell into the water at the beach, said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross.

The two girls were part of a group of teens who apparently were partying at the beach and then took off and left them behind when a 911 call was made by an Alfred Drown Road woman who responded to Willow Way.

Barrington police found several water bottles filled with alcohol at the beach, said LaCross. The 15-year-old was described as “highly intoxicated” in the police report.

Complete details of the “party” are still being pulled together, said LaCross. An investigation continues.

But it appears that one teen took the cell phone from the girl who stayed with the intoxicated teen so she could not call the police. Here’s a girl with possible alcohol poisoning, LaCross said, and someone apparently was worried about the police responding.

The intoxicated girl faces charges of underage possession and consumption of alcohol.
