Barrington Man, 18, Faces Charge of Alleged Sexual Assault on Girl, 14

An 18-year-old Barrington man faces a charge of sexual assault for allegedly forcing a 14-year-old Barrington girl into a sexual act with him last February.

Mitchell Jacques, of 271 Lincoln Ave., was scheduled to be arraigned in Family Court today, Sept. 30, on the charges of first-degree sexual assault and disorderly conduct, said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross. 

Jacques and the girl reportedly knew each other quite well but were not in a “romantic relationship,” said LaCross. The man reportedly has continued to send her text messages that amount to soliciting for sex, the police chief said.

“He has been asking her to do things,” said LaCross.

At the same time, he allegedly was “calling her names” and letting other students at the high school know of their previous alleged sexual involvement, the police chief said.

Detectives have been investigating both sides of this story, LaCross said. There was sufficient evident to ask for a warrant for his arrest, which does not indicate a conviction -- just a day in court.

Jacques was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 24, on a warrant issued by a Family Court judge and taken to the Training School at the Adult Correctional Institutions, according to the police report.
