Bay Spring Soon to See New Housing

A new sign has gone up on the corner of Woodbine and Narragansett avenues in the Bay Spring neighborhood of Barrington.

It indicates that "Lighthouse Cove" has been selected as the name of the 10-house subdivision planned for Lavin's Marina. And it indicates that Residential Properties is the realtor that will be selling the properties.

The plan for the subdivision got final approval by the Planning Board last summer. Groundbreaking was expected anytime for the L-shaped development with frontage on both streets.

The sign shows the price of the homes starting at $449,000. Two of the homes, however, will qualify as affordable housing.

“It’s the first inclusionary project in Barrington,” said Town Planner Phil Hervey, meaning that 20 percent of the project must be affordable housing.

The developer of the project is Ruggiero Properties, owned by Joseph Ruggiero of Barrington, who bought the marina about two years ago.

Lighthouse Cove will sit on land that has been vacant for several years.

Paul Carlson, vice president of InSite Engineering in Seekonk, Mass., has been developing the project for Ruggiero. An attempt to reach him about an exact timetable for construction and development was not successful.
