Garden Club Hosts Expert on Japanese Flower Arranging

Here are some things to know about today, Oct. 15, in Barrington: 

  • Some clouds early will give way to mainly sunny skies later with a high temperature reaching around 69 degrees.
  • The Barrington Garden Club presents guest speaker Kaye Vosburgh, a certified Sogetsu Ikebana -- Japanese flower arranging -- teacher, who will create basic and free-style Ikebana designs in the Barrington library at noon. She will also discuss the history of Ikebana. Guests are always welcome. The fee is $5 per person.
  • Area Catholics schools are holding an information fair at All Saints Academy, 915 West Main Road, Middletown, behind St. Lucy’s Church, from 6:30 – 8 pm. Admissions and student representatives will be available to answer questions and share information about their schools.
  • Long-time broadcast personality Paul Darling of Barrington will present a look at "We Were Pioneers: Memories of CH 12 Television and WPRO Radio," at 2:30 pm in Atria Bay Spring Village, 147 Bay Spring Ave.
  • The Barrington Housing Board of Trustees meets at 7 pm for its monthly meeting in the Barrington library.
