Kathryn Johnson, 75, Retired State Administrative Aide

Kathryn (Gutowski) Johnson, of Salisbury Road, Barrington died peacefully surrounded by her family after a long courageous battle against COPD. She was 75.

She was the beloved wife of Richard L. Johnson. Born in Warren, a daughter of the late John and Ann (Fitzmaurice) Gutowski, she lived in Barrington for 54 years. 

For more than 25 years, Kathy worked for the State of Rhode Island serving in a number of administrative capacities at the Department of Business Regulation and the Office of Attorney General, most notably serving as Executive Assistant to Attorney General Sheldon Whitehouse. 

Johnson was a 54 year communicant of St. Luke's Church. She was a graduate of St. Mary Academy Bay View Class of 1956. She enjoyed knitting, traveling, cooking and spending time with her loving family. 

Besides her husband of 52 years, she is survived by her children; Karen A. Johnson and her husband Jim of Hingham, MA, Lisa J. Ogrinc of Medfield, MA, Siri J. Noering and her husband Will of Hingham, MA and Eric R. Johnson and his wife Karen of Denver, CO and ten grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Gerald Gutowski. 

Her funeral will be held on Saturday November 9, from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke's Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 10 am. Burial will follow in Forest Chapel Cemetery, Nayatt Road, Barrington.
