Amancio "Amos" Pires: Former President, Santissima Trinidade

Amancio "Amos" Moniz Pires, 61, of Mt. Hope Avenue passed away on Jan. 2, 2013. He was the husband of Venilde (Botelho) Pires.

Born in Pico da Pedra, Sao Miguel, Acores, he was the son of Guilherme and Maria da Conceicao (Moniz) Pires. Amos was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Santissima Trinidade serving as a Mordomo and as president from 2000 to 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Venilde; children Amos Pires Jr. and Matthew David Pires; and his father Guilherme. He was the brother of Eduarda Almeida, Gorette Teixeira, Mary Pires and Paula Bucci.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 5 at 10 am from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood St. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Bristol. Visiting hours are Friday from 4 to 8 pm.
