Bristol Police Charge Woman With Stealing Thousands of Dollars in Jewelry

A Providence woman, 20, working as a caregiver, allegedly stole the jewelry from an Avenir Court woman, 85.

Bristol police have charged a Providence woman, 20, with stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from an Avenir Court woman, 85, she cared for in Bristol.

Zaire A. Bello of Burrows Street turned herself in to Bristol police on Monday morning, Oct. 28. She allegedly stole numerous bracelets and rings from the elderly woman with an estimated value of $24,000.

The alleged theft was reported by the Avenir Court woman’s son on Oct. 10, according to Bristol Deputy Chief Steven Contente. The case was turned over immediately to the detective division.

Detectives were able to match a list of caregivers for the elderly woman with a list of jewelry pawned at area shops. One piece of initialed jewelry, in particular, was traced to Bello, said Contente.

Bello worked for a home health care company as one of the woman’s caregivers. She will face the larceny charge at a pre-arraignment conference in 6th District Court on Jan. 16, 2014.
