Bristol/RWU Civic Fund Activities Applications Due This Week

The deadline to apply for a grant from the Fund for Civic Activities in Bristol is Friday, Nov. 1.

The grant program was established in 2007 when Roger Williams University and the Town of Bristol agreed to a 20-year PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) agreement. The Town of Bristol-Roger Williams University Cooperative Committee handles the applications.

Through the FCA, according to an RWU press release, the committee awards more than $25,000 each year to Bristol residents and organizations leading projects that enhance the civic experience and community life in Bristol. 

Selections are made by the 12-person committee, which is made up of representatives from Bristol and RWU.

Applicants will receive notification on their applications by early December. Approximately $12,500 will be awarded during the fall cycle; to date, nearly 90 projects and initiatives have received $132,976 through the FCA program, according to RWU.

The goal of the FCA is not to replace or serve as a substitute for public support. It is set up to enhance the projects, programs and services for all residents in Bristol. Proposals that request funding for direct costs of new initiatives will be given first preference.
