DUI Charge Follows Woman's Drive Past Warren Police Station

Warren woman, 25, spotted driving erratically by caller and police officer leaving Joyce Street police station.

A Warren woman chose the wrong streets to travel after drinking on Sunday evening, Dec. 15. She now faces a DUI charge.

Stacy L. Epstein, 25, of 3 Village Road, was spotted in a car driving erratically by another driver, said Warren Police Lt. Roland Brule. The driver called the police station with a description of the car and a license plate number.

A patrol officer leaving the police station on Joyce Street saw Epstein’s vehicle driving at the rear of the station soon after the report from the caller. He jumped into a cruiser and followed her vehicle to Main Street, where Epstein’s vehicle almost hit a parked car, according to the arrest report.

The patrol officer pulled her over on Child Street and immediately noticed signs of impairment and “being under the influence of something,” said Brule. He gave the woman a field sobriety test, which she failed, he said.

Epstein would not consent to a chemical test to determine her blood-alcohol level, Brule said. She was brought back to the police station to sober up enough to be arraigned by a justice of the peace, said Brule.

She faces charges of drunk driving and refusing to submit to a chemical test. After being arraigned and spending the night in a jail cell, Epstein was released on $1,000 personal recognizance.
