Elvira Lopes: Member of St Thomas the Apostle Church

Elvira Lopes, age 88, of Warren, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence. She was the wife of the late Amancio J. Lopes.

Born in Portugal, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Neves) Leal.

She was employed by Carol Cable as a factory worker and was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.

She was the mother of Amancio Lopes, Manuel Lopes, Antonio Lopes, Elvira Vieira, Connie Lopes, all of Warren, and Fatima Gomes of Swansea, MA. Grandmother of 17, Great Grandmother of 17 and Great Great Grandmother of 4. Sister of Maria DeLurdes of Portugal.

Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, where family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 27, 4 to 8 pm. Funeral Monday, Jan. 28, 9 am at the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Metacom Avenue, Warren. Burial will be in St Mary’s Cemetery.
