Pastor Dan Randall explained in a recent email message that the congregation "wanted to hold the service on our usual day of worship and focus on this," adding, "I think we all feel connected to Newtown right now."

Randall also said that the service is meant as an opportunity "or our faith community to listen and pray and develop ways in which we can actively address the wider issues of violence in our society — it is my sincere hope we can find creative and healing ways to help our wider community during this time."
