Flash Flood Warning in Effect Through Friday

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning and hazardous weather warning in Bristol and Warren through 6 p.m. on Friday.

Widespread thunderstorms and heavy rains on Thursday night and throughout the day on Friday are likely to cause flash flooding in localized areas, according to the National Weather Service.

Localized heavy rainfall of more than 2 inches is expected to cause flash flooding in urban and low-lying areas. The NWS station out of Tauton, MA has issued a flash flood warning and hazardous weather outlook through Friday at 6 p.m.

The National Weather Service cautions residents to take precautions and to head to higher ground during heavy rainfall conditions that could lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is dangerous and is likely to develop in areas of poor drainage that are usually susceptible to flooding conditions. Fast responding streams and rivers may also spill over their banks.
