Here's What's Happening This Weekend

Here some things to do in and around Bristol and Warren this weekend, Nov. 1-3. 

Lace up your running or walking shoes on Saturday, Nov. 2, and join the second annual "Lace Up for Strings" 5K run and walk at Colt State Park in Bristol to benefit the Community Strings Project. It starts at 9 am. Registration is $18 in advance and $20 on race day. To pre-register go to www.communitystringproject.org and download the registration form.

St. Andrew’s School, 63 Federal Road, Barrington, hosts an Artisan Craft Festival on Saturday starting at 9 am. The festival will feature a variety of handcrafted items from vendors all over the region. Among the crafts:  jewelry, clothing, ceramics, pet toys, candles, pottery, baby items, knitted hats, handbags, stained glass, doorknockers, Christmas decorations and much more. The festival cafe will serve breakfast, lunch and Blount Seafood soups.

Experience the Enchantment of Korea on Saturday at 1 pm in the Barrington Public Library. A multimedia presentation will bring to life Korea's rich and unique cultural heritage, from colorful art to modern Korea. The presentation includes a documentary film about Korean artifacts and industry and the reenactment of a traditional Korean wedding. Participants will also enjoy a traditional Korean meal prepared by members of the Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project. Works of art, including paintings, objects, and costumes, will be on display. The Korean Spirit & Culture Promotion Project is a not-for-profit organization that was formed in 2005 to promote Korean history and culture to the wider world.

Tour by bus on Saturday afternoon historic sites in Warren, Barrington, and Swansea that relate to the founding of the historic First Baptist Church in Swansea. The 1 pm tour starts and ends at the church at 21 Baptist St., Swansea.  For reservations, call Robyn at 508-679-8921. Refreshments will follow the tour. Cost is $15. 

Super Dog Adoption Day on Saturday will feature more than150 dogs and puppies looking for loving families to adopt them. Make a same-day adoption with a pre-approved application at AlwaysAdopt.com. Event includes free admission with on site veterinarians, dog trainers and adoption counselors. It starts at 10 am at Clark Farms, 2984 Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry Highway, Matunuck.
