Manuel Aguiar: Army Veteran of World War II
The Bristol native passed away on Jan. 16, 2013.

Manuel Aguiar, age 90, of Franklin St., Bristol, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at the Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River, MA. He was the loving husband of the late Laura C. (Carnes) Aguiar.
Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late John and Guilhermina (Teixeira) Aguiar.

Manuel was a rubber worker for the former Lloyd Manufacturing Company formerly in Warren and the Atlantic Tubing and Rubber Co. formerly in Cranston. Manuel was a communicant of Saint Elizabeth Church, Bristol. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of the Anthony C. Almeida Post # 237, V.F.W. and the American Legion both in Bristol. He was a life member of the Bristol Volunteer Fire Department, Ever Ready Engine and Hose Co. No. 2, and also an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan.
He is survived by his children, Norman R. Aguiar of Fall River, MA, John J. Aguiar of Buchtel, OH, and Deborah A. Lefebvre of Barrington; eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Delia Carvalho, and four brothers, John, Manuel, Joseph and Arthur Aguiar.

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at 10 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Saint Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.
Visiting hours Monday morning only from 9 to 10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bristol Fire Department, P.O. Box 775, Bristol, RI 02809.
