Phone Scam Alerts, Free Yard Sale Ads

A quick summary of news and notes on Bristol and Warren for your Thursday.

Season of Scams: First it was the new "grandma scam." Now it's callers claiming to represent National Grid and demanding payment over the phone — and another group of shysters asking for personal information in exchange for nonexistent health insurance cards. Call local police if you suspect you've been targeted.

For Sale:
There's a moving sale posted on the Bristol-Warren Patch calendar for Saturday, Aug. 24, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Want to advertise your yard or garage sale for free? [For real.] Go to the Events page to post yours.

New Use for Old Stuff: Continuing with the reuse and recycle theme, Rogers Free Library continues its free craft workshop teaching kids how to recycle all sorts of things every day this week from 10 to 11 a.m. For kids entering grades 2, 3, and 4. Call (401) 253-6948 to sign up. Be sure to grab an extra late-summer read while you're there — save time and order library books in advance online.

Make Your Plan Now: The 40th Annual Coggeshall Farm Harvest Fair is set for the weekend of Sept. 14 and 15. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. More details to follow.

Relief from Heat Possible: Thursday's forecast is for cloudy skies with a chance of rain and highs in the 80s. Continued chance of rain overnight.
