Bomb Threat Evacuates Mt. Hope High School
Students taking midterms were sent out into the cold after the school was one of dozens that received a threatening message Tuesday.

BRISTOL, RI—Mt. Hope High School in Bristol was one of dozens of schools in Rhode Island and Massachusetts that received a bomb threat message on Tuesday, prompting evacuations and early dismissal.
School officials said that the building was evacuated “in keeping with District safety protocols,” and it was decided that an early dismissal would be prudent due to the cold and wind.
“At this time a full safety assessment has been conducted by the Bristol Police and Fire Departments and the building has been cleared for reentry,” authorities said in a statement. “School is scheduled to resume at its normal time tomorrow, Wed., Jan. 20th.”

The evacuation was due to a phoned in bomb threat, according to school officials.
The incident is similar to threats made at more than 10 schools in Massachusetts on Tuesday.
Students at the school are taking midterms this week before the end of the second quarter on Friday.
