Three Boys Nabbed With Stolen Flu Medications

The Warren boys, ages 14 and 15, were reported walking on railing of Andreozzi Bridge across Barrington River.

Three teenage boys from Warren face charges of stealing cold medications in Barrington after they were reported walking on the railing of the Andreozzi Bridge over the Barrington River on Sunday evening, Nov. 17.

The boys, ages 14 and 15, were spotted by a driver who contacted Barrington police. Two patrol officers responded at about 8:30 pm.

The teens all were found to be carrying blister packs of flu medications, said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross. They were identified by surveillance video as being inside the CVS pharmacy on County Road earlier that evening.

The boys apparently did not shoplift at the CVS, though, said LaCross. They allegedly took the cold pills from the nearby Shaw’s supermarket, where five boxes of the on-the-shelf medication were found empty during an investigation by police officers.

The boys all live in a group home on Main Street in Warren, LaCross said. They were stopped on County Road heading south toward Warren by patrol officers.

One of the boys claimed that he had been sick and was carrying the pills for that reason, according to the police report. He said that his friends were carrying the pills because he didn’t have enough room in his pockets.

The charges will be handled in Family Court.
