Bristol and Warren bore some of Sandy's wrath in late October.

It was named "Frankenstorm" ā both because it approached near Halloween, and because of the ferocity it packed in its winds and rainfall.
Hurricane Sandy ā later renamed "Superstorm Sandy" after it drenched the East Coast and left parts of Manhattan underwater ā came ashore in Bristol and Warren on Oct 29.

Beginning with the weekend forecast that , the storm to hurricane designation, through Gov. Lincoln Chafee's declaration of emergency on Sunday, Oct. 28, and continuing as Bristol residents evacuated parts of the town and the Wharf Tavern in Warren sustained damage from the storm, Bristol-Warren Patch stayed up-to-date on Sandy's progress.
Once the storm cleared out, Bristol resident David Barboza credited local officials with being well-prepared to handle the event.
