Warren Man Allegedly Trespasses to Dig for Clams

Barrington police cited the man for crossing private property to get to a favorite shoreline.

A Warren man was cited for trespassing by Barrington police on Dec. 10 for allegedly crossing private property to dig for clams.

The clam digger also appears to have trespassed on an Adams Point Road property more than one time to get to an apparent favorite spot.

The man was spotted early in the morning, according to the Barrington police report. The property owner called police around 7 am and reported that the man was digging for clams on an adjacent shoreline.

The police report was unclear about the man’s exact location when he was approached by police – on a public shoreline or on private property. But the only way to get to where he was going was across the Adams Point resident’s property.

The Warren man was given a ticket, which he could contest in Barrington Municipal Court. Police also notified the department of environmental management about the incident.
