The 20-year-old Bristol man arrested last week for illegally pawning a watch also faces drug possession charges filed by Middletown Police.

Officers in that town arrested Zachary Sears, 20, of 36 First School St., at about 10:30 am on Jan. 3, two and a half hours before Newport Police charged Sears with one misdemeanor count of receiving stolen goods.

According to Middletown Police reports, officers stopped Sears after they saw him walking down High Street. Sears produced a marijuana "blunt" cigar that he'd hidden in his hat, officers reported.

Online court records show that Sears pleaded not guilty to the Newport charge at his arraignment on Jan. 3. He is scheduled to appear at a pre-trial conference on Jan. 16.

Sears pleaded no contest in March, 2012, to a charge of receiving stolen goods brought by Middletown Police. Judge Terence Houlihan Jr. imposed a one-year suspended sentence with one year's probation.
