Coventry Police K9 Completes Training

COVENTRY, RI — Coventry's newest police officer is ready to hit the beat. After six months, K9 Nixo and his partner Officer Brandon Sullivan have completed their in-depth training program.

Nixo is an 18-month-old German Shepherd. He is "very excited to get to work ... [and] very fast, too," the department said.

During their training, Nixo and Sullivan learned how to find drugs and narcotics and other fundamentals of patrol work such as tracking, article searches and arrests.

"Be sure to say hi when you see the new dynamic duo around town on patrol," Coventry police said.
