Five Things You Need To Know Today, February 5

Today is Tuesday, Feb. 5. Here are five things you need to know:

 

CPL Babysitter's Training Course: Registration is now open for the RI Chapter of American Red Cross' Babysitter's Training Course which will be hosted by Coventry Public Library on Feb. 20 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Boys and girls ages 11-15 may register with a non-refundable fee of $85. The course includes basic babysitting info and first aid. See the attached flier for more details or call the CPL Youth Services Dept. at 822-9102.

CTA Scholarships: Coventry High School seniors may now apply for a Coventry Teachers' Alliance (CTA) Scholarship. More than $80,000 will be awarded to students this year! Applications may be obtained from Mrs. Tracy in the math office. Application deadline is Thursday, Feb. 14 at 7:15 a.m.

Valentine's Day Craft: Register today for Greene Library's February Craft - homemade truffles! Sweep your Valentine off their feet with delicious truffles packed in a gift box that you've created! There will be two demonstrations, one tonight (Feb. 5) and Feb. 12. $5/person. Call 397-3873 to register.

CHS Alumni Musicians: Brad DeGraide, choral director and teacher at CHS, and Marina Ferri (Class of 2008) have scheduled an alumni concert for Apr. 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium to benefit the CHS Alumni Association. They are looking for former high school musicians who have remained in the music field either as a teacher, performer or music professional. Public Notice: At its Feb. 6 meeting, the Coventry Zoning Board of Review will be discussing an application from Green Light Farm, LLC for a Special Use Permit to construct a 2000' x 30' private airstrip and 40' x 50' hangar with a single family residence. The property in question is Assessor’s Plat 330, Lot 30 on Town Farm Road and is currently zoned as Rural Residential 3 (RR-3). The public meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
