Police said Keith Swerling, well-known for working to reunite lost pets with their owners across Rhode Island, contacted police after he found the dog walking across Water Street.

The dog was transported to North Kingstown Animal Hospital and was fed and given water.

WALLET FOUND
A Warwick woman turned in a brown wallet with cash and credit cards still inside on July 5.

Police said the woman found the wallet on a walk that morning. Police identified the owner and notified him he could pick up the wallet at police headquarters.

UNWANTED CALLS
A Duke Street woman told police on July 5 that she has been getting texts and phone calls from her ex-boyfriend against her wishes.

Police said that the woman made an original complaint with police on June 17.

Police said the ex-boyfriend did not make any verbal threats in the messages, but the woman said she is fearful and will be pursing a restraining order.

SOLICITING WITHOUT PERMIT
Police cited a Virginia man for soliciting without a permit on July 5 after he was caught going door-to-door selling magazine subscriptions.

Police said they got a complaint and found Franklin Keys, 31, of Spotsylvania, VA, in the area of Chestnut Street.

Keys reportedly said he works for a company named Unity Ward and did not have a permit.

A homeowner told police that Keys was rude to her when she asked him to leave.

Keys told the officer upon receiving a Municipal Court summons to appear on July 27 that he would wait for the bus at the bus stop at Post Road and Franklin Street.

Two days later, police cited Khylon Brown, 19, of Stone Mountain, GA, for the same violation. Police said they got a report from a resident in the area of Tillinghast and Frenchtown at around 8 p.m.

Brown said he worked for Unity Doers and was done for the night and on his way. Police let him go with a warning.

But police got "multiple calls" reporting Brown was soliciting not long afterwards and police came back and handed him a July 27 Municipal Court summons.

SCOOTER FOUND
Police are holding a Huffy scooter for safekeeping after it was found by a Parks and Recreation employee at Shovlin Park.

Police said the worker noted that there were several items that had been there for a few hours. Along with the scooter, police said there were two small bags with children's toys and a fleece jacket.

CAR DAMAGED
Police said a Coventry man told officers that his Hyundai was damaged while parked on Main Street.

Police said the incident occurred early July 8. The victim said he parked at around 12:30 a.m. and when he came back an hour-and-a-half later, he saw the rear window was smashed.
