New East Greenwich Resident Accidentally Threw Away Pistol During Move: Police
The man recalled throwing away a box containing the lockbox holding his pistol, police said.
EAST GREENWICH, RI — A recently relocated East Greenwich resident accidentally threw away his pistol during the move from Providence, police said.
The 32-year-old man told met with an officer shortly before 2 p.m. Monday and told of preparing to move to a new development in East Greenwich, according to a police report.

"In doing so, (the man) advised that he placed his firearm in a blue lock box and placed it into a bin," the report said.

Once the man arrived in East Greenwich, "he began to throw away boxes," according to the report.

"After some time, (the man) realized that his firearm was missing and recalls throwing away a box that had the blue lock box in it," the report said. "It should be noted that(he) advised that the firearm was empty and did not have magazines with the firearm."

The black 9 mm Beretta 92FS was entered into the National Crime Information Center as missing, stolen or lost, according to the report.
