The owner of the restaurant told the Patch that he understood that a cigarette in one of the apartments rolled into a wall area.
He said that an earlier version of this story led many to believe the fire was caused by a lit cigarette in the kitchen of his restaurant, which was not the case. He said no employee would ever smoke inside the kitchen of his restaurant.
