Catherine I. Rettenmyer 93, of Villanova Circle died Wednesday Nov. 6, 2013 at Rhode Island Hospital, according to the Perry-McStay Funeral Home.
Born in Boston, MA she was a daughter of the late Charles and Johanna (Isaacson) Rettenmyer. Catherine was a English teacher for the Rehoboth School Department before retiring.
She enjoyed gardening and painting and was known to be an avid liberal Democrat.
She leaves two daughters, Laurel Giarrusso and Meredith Cosimini, six grandchildren, Joanna and Eric Cosimini, Catherine and Matthew Giarrusso, Erin and Zachary Doyle, four great grandchildren, Penny and Phoebe Braga, Brayden and Tyler Cosimini, three sisters, Bette Foster, Charlotte Essex, Peggy Lorienzo and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Paula Doyle and sister of the late John, Polly, Anne and Eleanor.
Her funeral was this morning from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Ave., East Providence with burial in Rehoboth Village Cemetery.
