East Providence Woman Arrested for Woonsocket Stabbing

Carissa Chatlien, 32, stabbed the victim because she was moving her belongings out of a city apartment too slowly, police said.

WOONSOCKET, RI—A 32-year-old East Providence woman is facing assault with a deadly weapon charge after she allegedly stabbed a woman inside a West School Street apartment during an argument.

Police said Carissa Chatlien and the victim got into an argument and Chatlien pushed her out the door of the second floor apartment.

The victim then went back inside the apartment to get her belongings.

"As the victim was leaving the apartment," police said, "Chatlien accused her of taking too long and stabbed her."

Police arrived to find the victim on the second floor landing bleeding from a stab wound to the abdomen. The victim is currently at stable condition at Rhode Island hospital.

Chatlien is due to be arraigned in Sixth Division District Court today.
