Get Freaky, Test Your Strength, Make it to Watchemoket, Trash Lag

Freaky 5K - Combine costumes and cardio Sunday, 10 a.m., at the Rumford Fire station as either a participant or spectator for the Freaky 5K, with proceeds from registration funding the East Providence Firefighters Community Fund.

Registration is $25 on race day.

Strong Man Contest  - Think you're strong enough to enter a Strong Man Competition? 212 Health and Performance at 20 Newman Ave., Rumford, is holding theirs Nov. 2. Chamber at Watchemoket Square Day - The Chamber is hosting the Information Booth, next Saturday, Oct 19, at the Third Annual Watchemoket Square Day from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The event, hosted by local businesses and organizations in the Watchemoket Square section of East Providence, features food, fun, a classic car show, historical education and camaraderie.

Stop by for event schedule, maps, free stuff and souvenir T-shirts for sale.

Holiday trash schedule - All household refuse and yard waste collections this week will be delayed one day for the reminder of the week.  Regularly Monday collections will be Tuesday, Oct. 15, Tuesday will be Wednesday, Wednesday will be Thursday, Thursday will be Friday and Friday will be collected on Saturday.  

Foster Care Info Night - The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families and Foster Forward are hosting a Foster Care and Adoption Information Night Thursday, Oct. 17, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Foster Forward, 55 South Brow St., East Providence. DCYF staff, foster, and adoptive parents will be available to explain the program and answer questions. The Information Night is open to anyone interested in exploring becoming a foster or adoptive parent for children in DCYF care.  Please stop by and learn how you can make a difference in the life of a child!
