Lillian F. (Kelley) Monteiro, 100: Worked at Mason Can Corp., Avid Reader

Lillian F. (Kelley) Monteiro, 100, died on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 at Tockwotton on the Waterfront Nursing Home, according to Perry-McStay Funeral Home.

She was the wife of the late Domingo Monteiro, whom she married in 1938.  She was born in East Providence, a daughter of the late Charles and Rosella M. Kelley. Lillian lived in Newport during her formative years and all of her adult life in Providence.

She worked for the former Mason Can Corporation in East Providence and also as a housekeeper on the East Side for many years.  Lillian was hard working, loved reading, read the paper daily and enjoyed music, dancing and singing. She enjoyed having a good time with her family and friends who were the loves of her life. Lillian will be sadly missed. 

She leaves two daughters, Rosemary Monteiro-Gomes and her husband Ronald and Beverly Monteiro, five grandchildren, Kevin M. Jennings, Brian J. Jennings, Gary T. Jennings, Richelle “Latifa” Karim and Brandon Watterson, 13 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Dorothy (Kelley) Davis and Raymond Fernandes. 

Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Ave., East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Camp Street, Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
