Monday Essentials: 'All That's Familiar' at Library; Business After Hours on Tap

Here are some things to know about this week, Oct. 7-13, in and around East Providence:
Attleboro author Anne Rachin will talk about her book, All That’s Familiar: How to Remain in Your Home and Age in Place, today, Oct. 7, at 7 pm at the Weaver Library, 41 Grove Ave. A home-care administrator for more than 30 years, Rachin will answer questions about how to continue to live at home as age and medical limitations threaten your independence. Her book will be available for purchase and signing.
This month's East Providence Area Chamber of Commerce networking event, Business After Hours, is being hosted by Euclid Financial Services, 225 Newman Ave., on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Meet local business people and bring lots of business cards for exchanging. Non-members are welcome to check out the Chamber at this event. Learn about the Chamber's membership campaign and the special offers available for companies that join during Oct. 15 to Nov. 15. Register by noon today.

The Children's Workshop, 411 Narragansett Park Drive, Rumford, hosts an Open House on Thursday, Oct. 10, starting at 4 pm. Meet the teachers, explore the classrooms, learn about our curriculum, and meet some other TCW families. Snacks, refreshments, and fun activities will be provided. You can also sign up for the Parent Committee and be an even bigger part of your child’s experience.
Register today for the sixth annual Free to Breathe 5K run/walk and 1-mile walk on Saturday morning, Oct. 12, at Daggett Farm - Slater Memorial Park in Pawtucket. The event will bring people together to raise funds for research into and early detection and treatment of lung cancer. All proceeds support the non-profit National Lung Cancer Partnership.
