Naked Man Arrested After Mom, Cops, See His Crack

The following information was provided by the East Providence Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

When Aires Graca's mother called to him as he stood naked in the basement of his 177 Mauran Ave. home Nov. 3 at 5:30 p.m., the 37-year-old might have handled the situation with an awkward explanation.

But she called to him a few times and got no response, believing Aires to be a stranger, so she called East Providence Police. When officers arrived, they found Graca naked, standing in the home's basement, facing away from a window, staring at a wall.

Police entered the basement, kicked in a locked door leading to the room, and ordered Graca to the floor, with a gun and taser leveled at him. The officers apprehended Graca without incident, eventually identifying him, and took stock of the basement.

In the room, officers found a crack pipe and a spoon with a powder-like substance on it, which later tested positive as cocaine.

Graca was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine. He was released on personal recognizance Nov. 4 and scheduled for a pre-arraignment conference in Sixth District Court Jan. 24.
