Man Allegedly Stole Designer Sunglasses From Middletown Store

A 29-year-old Bristol man was arrested Tuesday around 10:15 a.m. after he allegedly stole sunglasses on at least two occasions from a Middletown store.  

Daryl Overy, of 24 Robin Dr., Bristol, was charged with a charge of felony shoplifting and for habitual shoplifting, a misdemeanor.  

Overy allegedly walked into RI Eye Doctors on West Main Road and was "very chatty," according to the police report. He said he was going out for a cigarette and did not come back. The employee noticed two pairs of sunglasses were missing and checked the video surveillance to confirm Overy took the glasses. An employee later recalled he came into the shop a month ago and two pairs were missing as well.  

In total, he stole $1,187 worth of Gucci and Vera Wang sunglasses from the store, said police.
