Middletown Library to Dedicate Conference Room to Norman and Gillian Hall

The Middletown Library Conference Room will be dedicated in honor of Norman and Gillian Hall, both of who donated countless hours to ensuring the success of the library and of Middletown.

The Middletown Library Board of Trustees is recognizing one local couple for decades of dedicated volunteer work to different organizations throughout town.

The board will name the library conference room for local residents Norman and Gillian Hall. Norman Hall was instrumental in guiding the construction of the new library wing, serving as both a member of the Library Board of Trustees and chairman of the building committee. Hall, who was also passionate about preserving local history, died on Dec. 30. He was 90 years old.

"They could always be counted on to follow through with any project and were accomplished in quietly contributing their valuable labor and counsel," said Paul LaMond, chairman of the Library Board of Trustees in a letter to the Middletown Town Council.

Norman also spent time volunteering on the town's Open Space Committee and oversaw the deeding of Albro Woods to the town in 1990. For many years he was a member of the Middletown Historical Society and is best known for lobbying, fundraising and mapping the moving of Boyd's Windmill to Paradise Valley Park. His expertise and eloquence in grant writing made him a leader, providing guidance and common sense in decision making.

To help defray the cost of signage and a dedication ceremony, the Middletown Town Council contributed $200 to the Library Board of Trustees.
