Middletown Woman Allegedly Tries to Frame Ex-Boyfriend

The following incident was reported by the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Brielle Sheekey, 24, of 1 North Dudley Ave. was arrested Monday, Sept. 16 around 5:23 p.m. after she allegedly lied that her ex-boyfriend broke her house window. She reportedly told police the window was broken while she was at her grandmother’s house earlier that day. Police said she believed it was broken by her ex-boyfriend and his girlfriend.

After police took the report and were leaving the area, witnesses flagged down the officers and explained that they saw Sheekey break her own window, said police. They told police an older man was with her. The officers returned to the house, but police said Sheekey denied breaking the window. The officers asked if someone was with her when she arrived home, and she reportedly said she was with her uncle. Police called her uncle, who confirmed Sheekey broke the window because they were locked out.

She was charged with making a false report of a crime.
