Police Arrest Father and Son

Police arrested a father and a son Monday night on unrelated charges.

An officer on road detail recognized the son, Ryan Dennis, 20, of 1125 Aquidneck Ave. Apt. #5 at the Bay Willows Motel and called dispatch because he had an active warrant. Dennis allegedly failed to appear in court on Oct. 3, after he was arrested by Newport police for shoplifting in February, according to state records.

When police arrived and arrested Dennis, a routine search on his father, Warren Dennis, 50, of the same address, turned up he had a bench warrant out of the Second District Court. While processing the younger Dennis, police found narcotics in his wallet. He was charged with a misdemeanor bench warrant and felony possession of drugs.  His father was charged with a bench warrant, a misdemeanor.
