5 THINGS: 1,000 Points, A Vigil and Ugly Sweaters

There are various items today for 5 Things to put on your calendar.

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Friday, December 21, 2012:

Prout’s Eric Rameika goes for 1,000th point on Friday night. Thanks to the tip from Bill Storey, who notes that the captain is nine points away from 1,000. The Crusaders host Lincoln at 7 p.m. Friday, and there is a good chance he gets the honor then, since he’s averaging 27.8 points per game, according to Storey.

Candlelight vigil Sunday for Newtown. The vigil will be held in Memorial Square by Ocean Road at 4:30 p.m. For more info, click here.

“Figure skating is an unlikely Olympic event but its good television. It’s sort of a combination of gymnastics and ballet. A little sexy too, which doesn’t hurt.” – Andy Rooney. It’s not quite figure skating, but there is public skate today at the Boss Ice Arena at 10 a.m. For rates and more information, click here. The skating gives way to hockey at noon.

Don’t stay home for Home for the Holidays. The Courthouse Center for the Arts presents Home for the Holidays at 7 p.m. on Dec. 21 and Dec. 22. There are also 4 p.m. matinees on Dec. 22 and 23. Admission is free, but first-come, first served.

Has the time or date or details of one of your events changed? If you posted the event yourself on our site, then remember – You can always change the details if you’re logged into your Patch account. Failing that, leave a comment on the item in question! The issue is that lately, people have been e-mailing me, and depending on the time of the day, it can take me anywhere from 30 minutes or 30 hours to get to the item, unfortunately. As a result, I encourage you all to be as proactive as possible!

Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events today, given that it’s Forefathers' Day in Plymouth. As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. If you’re having an event, please let us know in the comments. Also, make sure it isn’t left out in the future – Submit it via this link (as long as you’re logged into your Patch account).

In the original version, Snow White bites a poisoned kiwi and she’s saved by 18 people of moderate height, but it didn’t test as well. On this day in 1937, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves premiered at the Carthay Circle Theater, per Wikipedia.

“We have to disarm the bomb in the president’s plane before it hits another plane with another bomb in it!” – What I imagine the plot of every 24 to be. Happy 46th birthday to Kiefer Sutherland!
