5 THINGS: Brides, Messiah and Boston Celtics

The weekend might almost be over, but that doesn't mean you need to cry and sulk about it.

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Sunday, January 6, 2013:

“It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages.” – Friedrich Neitzsche, of all people. You can get that marriage off to a good start though with a good wedding. The sixth annual South County Bridal Show is at 11 a.m. at the Towers in Narragansett. Tickets are $12, and for more info, click here.

Sing along to “Messiah” for a good cause! The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd is hosting the sing-along to benefit Welcome House. The fun starts at 3 p.m., and for more info, click here.

Want to see the Boston Celtics play? The Neighborhood Guild is planning a trip for Feb. 10, when the Celtics play the Denver Nuggets. The final payment deadline is Jan. 25, but the tickets (39 of them) are first come, first served. For more info, click here.

Register for South Kingstown Little League or Softball! Want to play Little League this year? Cool, click here! Is slow pitch softball more your speed? Cool, click here! Both leagues offer early bird specials if you register in January instead of February, so don’t dawdle!

Has the time or date or details of one of your events changed? If you posted the event yourself on our site, then remember – You can always change the details if you’re logged into your Patch account. Failing that, leave a comment on the item in question! The issue is that lately, people have been e-mailing me, and depending on the time of the day, it can take me anywhere from 30 minutes or 30 hours to get to the item, unfortunately. As a result, I encourage you all to be as proactive as possible!

Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events today, given that it’s Pathet Lao Day in Laos. As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. If you’re having an event, please let us know in the comments. Also, make sure it isn’t left out in the future – Submit it via this link (as long as you’re logged into your Patch account).

Sign up for our daily newsletter! Hey, I realize we have a lot of neat features and knick-knacks on the site, so it can be confusing to keep up with it all. Want just one simple, easy to read daily digest? Sign up for our e-mail newsletter here then. It comes out between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. roughly, every single day of the week. Amazing, I know!

And 64 years later, it would be the basis for a bad TV show that got cancelled after a year. On this day in 1947, Pan American Airlines was the first commercial airliner to schedule a flight around the world.

You are very, very tall, but that’s OK! Happy 43rd birthday to famous volleyball player, fashion model and TV celebrity Gabrielle Reece!
