5 THINGS: Planning, Schools and Pitbull

Plan your Tuesday properly with some of these Five Things.

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Tuesday, January 15, 2013:

“If men were angels no government would be necessary.” – James Madison. Here are today’s government meetings:

  • The Narragansett Planning Board meets at 6 p.m. in the large boardroom of town hall.
  • The Towers Committee meets at 7 p.m. at its namesake.
  • The South Kingstown School Committee meets at 7 p.m. at South Kingstown High School.

Want to see the Boston Celtics play? The Neighborhood Guild is planning a trip for Feb. 10, when the Celtics play the Denver Nuggets. The final payment deadline is Jan. 25, but the tickets (39 of them) are first come, first served. For more info, click here.

Register for South Kingstown Little League or Softball! Want to play Little League this year? Cool, click here! Is slow pitch softball more your speed? Cool, click here! Both leagues offer early bird specials if you register in January instead of February, so don’t dawdle!

Has the time or date or details of one of your events changed? If you posted the event yourself on our site, then remember – You can always change the details if you’re logged into your Patch account. Failing that, leave a comment on the item in question! The issue is that lately, people have been e-mailing me, and depending on the time of the day, it can take me anywhere from 30 minutes or 30 hours to get to the item, unfortunately. As a result, I encourage you all to be as proactive as possible!

Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events today, given that it’s Tree Planting Day in Egypt. As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. If you’re having an event, please let us know in the comments. Also, make sure it isn’t left out in the future – Submit it via this link (as long as you’re logged into your Patch account).

Sign up for our daily newsletter! Hey, I realize we have a lot of neat features and knick-knacks on the site, so it can be confusing to keep up with it all. Want just one simple, easy to read daily digest? Sign up for our e-mail newsletter here then. It comes out between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. roughly, every single day of the week. Amazing, I know!

Rule number one – When you miss a shot in warm-ups, the rebounder gives the ball to you for a lay-up, and then you pass it back to him so he can take his shot. On this day in 1892, James Naismith publishes the rules for a game called basketball.

Never has so much been obtained by a man so bald and so sweaty. Happy 32nd birthday to Pitbull! If you’re not familiar with his music, well, just watch more television commercials. His music is in a bunch of them.
