63 Gibson Ave. Sells for $1.147 Million
The 1911 Victorian was designed by McKim, Mead and White -- the same firm that designed the Rhode Island State House.
One of the Sherry Cottages on Gibson Avenue, designed by the same firm behind the Narragansett Towers and Casino, has sold for a cool $1.147 million.
“The Phoenix” at 63 Gibson Avenue, is a prestigious historical house set in Kentara Green in Narragansett Pier.
The seven-bedroom, five-bathroom house was built in 1911 and offers 4,200 square feet of refined interior space that has been carefully preserved and updated.

Along with being an idyllic family home within a pleasant walking distance to the ocean, the house is an important architectural artifact within an historic district. It was designed by the prominent architectural firm McKim, Mead & White, which rose to the pinnacle of the industry at the turn of the twentieth century.
Along with this house, the firm designed the Rhode Island State House, considered one of grandest state capital buildings in the country. They also designed the former Pennsylvania Station, the Boston Public Library and renovated the White House.

In Rhode Island, along with the state house, their work can be found in many historic neighborhoods, especially in Newport, which is home to the Newport Casino, the Isaac Bell House and Rosecliff, one of the famed Newport Mansions, among others.
The house at 63 Gibson Avenue was listed by Lila Delman Real Estate of Narragansett and first came onto the market with an asking price of $1.195 million.
In a history compiled by the South County Museum, the Sherry Cottages were a group of buildings that once included two additional houses and a restaurant and dining hall.
The namesake, Louis Sherry, was a New York restaurateur and caterer who rented cottages to summer guests.
The town’s assessed value of 63 Gibson Avenue is $745,000, according to the most recent revaluation.
