The National Weather Service is predicting rain, heavy at times, for Friday, but we have one more day of hot weather to get through first.

NEWPORT, RI — Much of Rhode Island will remain under a heat advisory until 8 p.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service says. The advisory is in effect in Providence and in Kent counties, meaning East Greenwich and Coventry are included, as well as Woonsocket, Cranston and Providence.
But the coast is going to escape, although the temperatures will be in the low 80's. The rain is expected to arrive on Friday.
