Narragansett Man Faces Felony Charge After Punching Officer

A Narragansett man is charged with felony assault after allegedly punching an officer in the face outside of Old Mountain Lanes.

Justin M. Dobruck, 31, of 1157 Point Judith Road, Narragansett, was arrested at about 9:35 p.m. on March 17 and charged with felony assault – striking a police officer – and misdemeanor offenses of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

According to police, they received a report of Dobruck acting belligerent at Old Mountain Lanes, screaming, yelling and preventing people from exiting the building.

Police said that when an officer responded and asked Dobruck for his ID, Dobruck refused to comply. Instead, police said Dobruck shoved the officer, and when the officer then attempted to arrest him, the officer was punched in the face.

According to police, two other officers then responded, at which point they were able to handcuff Dobruck and place him in a squad car.

Police said that based on interviews with a friend of Dobruck, he had came combative after consuming six shots of whiskey and a beer between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

According to police, Dobruck was combative and uncooperative throughout booking. As a result of his behavior and the pending felony charge, he was held for arraignment at Fourth Division District Court at 9 a.m. March 18.

According to online judicial records, Dobruck was arraigned and released on personal recognizance. Felony screening is scheduled for April 30.
