As a result of his suspended license arrest and past drug history, K-9 unit Goro was called to search the car. Police said that the dog identified a small sunglasses box under the passenger seat as containing narcotics.

According to police, a search of the box revealed used needles and syringes, several empty plastic baggies, cotton swabs and a spoon. However, there was not enough of the drug to field test.

Police said that when questioned, Cavanagh admitted to using about $500 worth of heroin each week. However, police were only able to file the suspended license charge, and he was processed and then released at about 9 p.m.
