NARRAGANSETT, RI — The Narragansett Police Department on Monday swore in its newest leader.
Police Chief Kyle Rekas, who previously served as a police captain, replaces Police Chief Sean Corrigan, who retired after 28 years in law enforcement.
Rekas joined the Narragansett Police Department as a patrol officer in 1999, rising through the ranks as detective, patrol sergeant, patrol lieutenant and prosecution lieutenant to eventually become the department's administrative services captain in 2018. In this role, Rekas was responsible for managing the functions of the Narragansett Police Office of Professional Standards, accreditation management, policy and procedure development, law research, internal affairs, and training. Rekas said the accomplishment of becoming police chief meant everything to him.
