SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — South Kingstown residents can get free, at-home COVID-19 test kits this weekend. The town will distribute its share of the latest supply the state received last week.

The tests will be distributed at Broad Rock Middle School from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Kits will be given out on a first-come, first served basis, with a limit of two kits per vehicle. Any resident can get a test, regardless of age. No one will be able to reserve a kit in advance.

To limit contact and speed the process, kits will be given out through vehicle windows. Residents are asked to stay to the left on the one-way road at the entrance and drive around to the rear of the building. There will be signs directing vehicles to the distribution point. Everyone picking up a test must wear a face covering and maintain social distance from town workers.

The tests are a portion of the 500,000 additional kits that arrived in Rhode Island last week. The state allocated 70 percent to cities and towns, which were given out based on population. The remainder were given to community organizations and health equity zones.
